So, I mentioned this in a comment yesterday, but didn't get anywhere with it. And, this whole Stupak thing has me thinking more about this logic. The Supreme Court insists that spending money is a form of free speech, right? At least for corporations, right? So, how can the government prohibit people (which are just like corporations) paying money for anything? Heroin, prostitutes, abortions . . . Wouldn't their argument lend itself to this thinking?
Okay, I'm prepared to hear exactly why this won't work, and since I'm not a lawyer, I'm sure there are lots of legal reasons. But, I would love to be able to hear an argument about how buying heroin is a form of free speech. Sure, possession might be a problem, but . .
