Hi everybody. I haven't been on Daily Kos for a few months. (Actually I was out shooting my first feature film and felt at peace being removed from political reading for awhile.) Well, I'm back.

A great community service provider is asking for goodhearted citizens to "click" on their behalf every day this Month.

Cornerstone Services, Inc. in Joliet, Illinois is a not-for-profit social service agency that help people with disabilities to live and work in the community. The agency has been around since 1969 and over the years has greatly expanded the type of services they provide.

So, I mentioned this in a comment yesterday, but didn't get anywhere with it. And, this whole Stupak thing has me thinking more about this logic. The Supreme Court insists that spending money is a form of free speech, right? At least for corporations, right? So, how can the government prohibit people (which are just like corporations) paying money for anything? Heroin, prostitutes, abortions . . . Wouldn't their argument lend itself to this thinking?

Okay, I'm prepared to hear exactly why this won't work, and since I'm not a lawyer, I'm sure there are lots of legal reasons. But, I would love to be able to hear an argument about how buying heroin is a form of free speech. Sure, possession might be a problem, but . .

Dear President Obama,

Dude, I have been fully supportive of you for ages. I hopped on the bandwagon way back when you were running in the Illinois Senate primaries and you had the daughter of Sen. Paul Simon in a TV ad talking about how the late senator gave you his blessing shortly before he died. I thought you had a weird name, but I warmed up to it after seeing how you never yelled obnoxious things about your opponents just to get good sound bites for the local news. I would have voted for you in that primary, but it was obvious you were going to crush everybody else, so instead I voted for another guy I felt sorry for.

Yada, yada, yada. Then you became president. I like your diplomatic style, and I fully support the idea of drinking beer to solve problems, but--you're going to drink Bud Light?

So, I go to pick up my daughter from preschool yesterday afternoon and the director of the center sees me and comes over to tell me a story about my little girl. I like to hear stories about her, but I'm always worried when they come from people who have spent all day with her.

I don't really write diaries, since somebody else usually says what I want to say anyway, but something has been bugging me and I haven't noticed it discussed yet. Forgive me if I'm mistaken. While there's been all sorts of talk about Sarah Palin and her family, both critically from folks like us and gushing praise from scary folks at the RNC, for some reason the topic increasingly swings back to abortion.
